My blog traffic happened to drop dramatically TWICE in these two months. For the first time, my blog was dropping out of Google serps completely. I was so nervous that I’d searched all the forums looking for anyone who had similar experiences. Many reported that the phenomenon was normal and there was nothing to worry about. They also added that everything will be back to normal probably after 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or more depending on your luck.
Even though I knew about this before, it still blows my mind when it happened. Luckily the traffic started to recover the next day.
For the second time which happened on last week, I’m not sure what causes the traffic drops in the beginning as the main keywords are still ranking. However I figure it out later that many of my long tail keywords lost their ranks in Google serps.
Not sure whether it was a coincidence, but I found out that my blog was loading quite slowly for the past few days, it took about 20-30 seconds to load completely.
Long story shot, after struggling with the database for few days (test, debug, test, debug, test….) , finally the problem has been fixed and my blog loads completely within few seconds. Amazing enough the traffic start building back the very next day.
Lesson learnt? Hm…;)
